Super Bowl Monday
The Super Bowl aired live on Sunday afternoon in the United States where most people were watching. As for me and a few buddies, we watched from 1:30 am-4:30 am Monday morning here in Israel where I’m going to school this semester. Some people might say it’s crazy to do such a thing, but being an avid football, I never miss Super Bowl Sunday, or in this case Super Bowl Monday. I was surprised at the number of people that showed up to watch with us. Even some of the girls from my group showed up. That was one thing I didn’t expect to happen.
The rooting was pretty evenly matched, half the group for the Colts and the other half for the Saints. It was a classic Super Bowl party, food drinks, plenty of people to talk to, the only difference was looking at the clock at halftime and seeing 3:00 am and having it be pitch black outside. And, to top it all off, we all watched an exciting game. And, my pick to win it all turned out to be correct. The New Orleans Saints are now atop the football world. And what a way to do it, although they were trailing for most of the game, they came back like a true champion should. I’m not saying you can only be a champion if you can come back from a deficit, but to be a champion, you can’t let a deficit beat you and the Saints didn’t. For Saints quarterback, Drew Brees, I don’t think this year could have ended any better. After the shoulder injury in San Diego, when no one believed in him, Saints coach Sean Payton did. And boy did that pay off. All in all, I had a great Super Bowl Monday!
