Possible Change of NFL OT Playoff Rule
BY MAX BERMAN
There’s talk of a new NFL playoff overtime rule change. Under the proposed new rule, both teams would get the ball at least once unless the first team to get the ball scores a touchdown. If the first team scores a field goal and the other team tie the game, action continues until a team scores again. This would be the new ruling as opposed to the current one, in which the first team to score wins the game. Personally, I like the current rule because it puts everything on the line. First team to score wins. That way you’re always watching what could be the final play of the game. It makes it more exciting. And a team truly shows if they’re worthy of playing big when it’s needed. I don’t want to see the current rule change, and if it does, I don’t think we’ll see the same thrilling overtime games we’ve seen in the past. Upsetting in my book.
