What Were You Thinking L.T.?

Former Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson signed with the New York Jets. What’s surprising about his decision is he had a choice between the Jets and the Minnesota Vikings. In my opinion, choosing the Jets isn’t the right one.  But going to the Vikings wouldn’t have been either. Throughout his career, Tomlinson has been the star player in the backfield. The Vikings already have a star running back in Adrian Peterson and the Jets have an up and coming star in Shonn Green. However, Tomlinson has apparently realized his age and lack of production recently and decided to take a step down.

Stepping into the role of a mentor for Green. Looking at it from the Jets point of view, if they were looking for a mentor, they already had one. Thomas Jones and Shonn Green provided the one-two punch out of the backfield. Not only could Jones continue to be the mentor, but he also produced more last season than Tomlinson did. New York thought otherwise as they released Jones who has signed with Kansas City.  In the end, Tomlinson signs the deal and shares carries with Green this year for the Jets. I think the Tomlinson signing is a waste of money.  We’ll see who’s right when the season starts.
