This time, the message has been sent by AT&T.  The telephone company pulled their sponsorship plug on Tiger Woods, joining Accenture and Gillette as companies that no longer want to be associated with the admitted adulterer. We probably are making too big a deal of this at this time, considering Woods has taken an indefinite leave of absence from golf, and his bags that featured the AT&T logo, are likely collecting dust in a closet. However, I'm amazed by the outrage of Tiger fans who can't believe the hypocrisy of a company dropping their hedonistic hero.  Sure, it's a safe bet there are board members of every major company who have cheated on their spouse, and I've read the line about ''he who is not without sin, let him cast the first stone,'' but, this is not about hypocrisy. It's about an athlete adhering to a morals clause. 

When Tiger signed his name on those multi-million dollar endorsement contracts, he agreed to abide by a code of ethics. It's that simple. This isn't a case of an athlete should only be judged by what he does on the field, or "it's not a big deal because everyone does it."  Sure Tiger is being held to a higher standard than your mailman, or the guy who snakes out your toilet. And while Tiger may not be a role model to your child, what's relevant is he agreed to live by a code of ethics when he accepted an obscene amount of money to represent companies, and in their judgement, cheating in a reckless manner on a wife and two young children, resulted in a breach of contract. I just hope AT&T bagged Tiger for the right reason.  It would be very hypocritical if AT&T were to give Tiger a call after he returns and is fitted for another Green Jacket.
