The Big Mac Is Melting
After watching the Mark McGwire interview with Bob Costas, I came away with one thought. The Big Mac is melting and his credibility is now fried. Is McGwire a liar? You be the judge. Here are the facts according to the former slugger. He took steroids to recover from injury, but because he was so good at hitting a baseball, there's no way the performance enhancing drugs actually enhanced his performance. The fact McGuire was able to recover more quickly from his ''Mashlike'' injuries, is proof the steroids had a positive effect. And, since the steroids helped McGwire heel from his wide range of injuries, he was able to not only hit more home runs, but he was able to field more balls at first base. Errors are often committed because of ailment and fatigue, and the steroids which made McGwire stronger and allowed him to return to the lineup with crippling injuries, had a major effect on his defensive game.
Ask Bill Buckner how bad knees can affect a first baseman. Once again, we have an example of a cheater desperate for our forgiveness, who refuses to take full responsibility for his corrupt ways. McGuire was very emotional with Costas, especially for a guy who allegedly took PEDs only to recover from injury. If in his mind, McGwire did not use performance enhancing drugs to gain an unfair advantage, then why has he become so emotional and turned into Dick Vermeil? Unfortunately, what we saw in the Costas interview were tears of a clown. After pleading the 5th, and then pleading for forgiveness, McGwire's next plea should contain the words; guilty on all charges.
